I first became hooked on yoga ten years ago, when I tried out a class at a local leisure centre. The teacher was inspirational - and it didn't take long to realise that my perceived lack of fitness and co-ordination were no barrier to building a strong yoga practice.
I practiced whenever I could over the years, training in different styles with renowned teachers such as Sarah Powers, Shiva Rea, Richard Freeman and Tara Fraser.
I now teach private and group classes in and around Chelmsford and London, with a focus on hatha flow, meditation and yoga for older people.
My teaching style draws on a range of yoga traditions - especially yin, ashtanga and iyengar - and tries to encourage a mindful approach to practice, centred on the breath.
I am a firm believer in yoga's ability to transform both body and mind. Benefits of a regular practice include improved core and all-body strength, increased flexibiltiy, enhanced awareness, better focus and deep relaxation. Yoga is also fantastic to help ward off 21st century lifestyle problems such as lower back pain, osteoporosis, arthritis and stress.
